Mission

The Department of Space Physics IEP-SAS is engaged in research of physical processes in the space, particularly those that can be investigated by cosmic energetic particles, including the cosmic rays. Involved is research of Earth's magnetosphere, interplanetary environment, solar surface as well as the heliosphere. Since its establishment in 1969, the Department has been involved in numerous space Satellite Experiments. A continuous registration of cosmic rays is provided by a Neutron Monitor in Department's high-mountain observatory on Lomnický štít, at altitude 2634 m above the sea level.
