The SONG (SOlar Neutron and Gamma-ray spectrometer) device has been developed and constructed in cooperation between DSP-IEP-SAS and Institute of Nuclear Physics of Moscow State University (NIIJAF-MGU) for project CORONAS-I. The detector part named SONG-D has been provided by NIIJAF and the Data Processing Unit named SONG-E was provided by IEP SAS.

The SONG-E provided registration of variety of pulse signals from the detector part as well as the science data compression and formatting for two telemetry systems of the AUOS-Z spacecraft. The SONG-E is built on three 80C85 processors, two of them were providing the registration tasks while third one was providing the data processing and communication with the telemetry.

The SONG device delivered a lot of valuable scientific data concerning the distribution of neutron and gama radiation in the Earth vicinity that are currently processed and analysed.
