A BRIEF HISTORY OF DEPARTMENT OF SPACE PHYSICS IEP-SAS

  • 1969 Establishment of Institute of Experimental Physics (IEP) in Košice. The Department of Space Physics is one of the IEP principal departments. A high-altitute observatory for study of the cosmic rays on Lomnický štít (2633 m above sea), with experience since 1940, became an integral part of the DSP-IEP-SAS

  • 1971 apparatus PG-1A, developed with participation of DSP-IEP-SAS, on board of the INTERKOZMOS-5 satellite

  • 1972 nuclear emulsions on board of the INTERKOZMOS-6 satellite. Analysis of exposed emulsions from the recovery module conducted at DSP-IEP-SAS

  • 1975 apparatus PG-1B, developed with participation of DSP-IEP-SAS, on board of the INTERKOZMOS-13 satellite

  • 1977 apparatus SK-1, developed with participation of DSP-IEP-SAS, on board of the INTERKOZMOS-17 satellite

  • 1980 apparatus DOK-T, developed with participation of DSP-IEP-SAS, on board of the PROGNOZ-8 satellite

  • 1981 apparatus URE-1, developed with participation of DSP-IEP-SAS, on board of the VERTICAL-10 sounding rocket

  • 1985 apparatus DOK-1, developed with participation of DSP-IEP-SAS, on board of the PROGNOZ-10 satellite (project INTERSHOCK)

  • 1989 apparatus SPE-1, developed with participation of DSP-IEP-SAS, on board of the INTERKOZMOS-24 satellite (project ACTIVE)

  • 1989 apparatus DOK-S, developed with participation of DSP-IEP-SAS, on board of the satellite MAGION-2 (project ACTIVE )

  • 1991 apparatus DOK-S, developed with participation of DSP-IEP-SAS, on board of the satellite MAGION-3 (project APEX)

  • 1994 apparatus SONG-E, developed at DSP-IEP-SAS, on board of the satellite CORONAS-I

  • 1995 apparatus DOK-2X, developed at DSP-IEP-SAS, on board of the satellite INTERBALL-T (project INTERBALL)

  • 1995 apparatus DOK-S, developed with participation of DSP-IEP-SAS, on board of the satellite MAGION-4 (project INTERBALL)

  • 1996 apparatus DOK-2A, developed at DSP-IEP-SAS, on board of the satellite INTERBALL-T (project INTERBALL)

  • 1996 apparatus DOK-S, developed with participation of DSP-IEP-SAS, on board of the satellite MAGION-5 (project INTERBALL)

  • 1996 apparatus SPE-1M, developed at DSP-IEP-SAS, on board of the orbital station MIR

  • 1998 apparatus MEP-1, developed at DSP-IEP-SAS, ready for launch on board of the microsatellite COMPASS

  • 1999 nuclear emulsions SK-1 DOZIMETRIA, developed at DSP-IEP-SAS, on board of the orbital station MIR (mission "Štefánik" of Slovak astronaut I.Bella )

  • 1999 apparatus SPRUT, developed with participation of DSP-IEP-SAS, on board of the orbital station MIR (mission "Štefánik" of Slovak astronaut I.Bella )

  • 2000 apparatus EPD, under development with participation of DSP-IEP-SAS for european microsatellite CESAR

  • 2001 apparatus SONG-M, developed at DSP-IEP-SAS, on board of the satellite CORONAS-F

  • 2004 service support system ESS, constructed with participation of DSP-IEP-SAS, on board of the deep space probe ESA-ROSETTA (mission to comet Churjumov-Gerasimenko). The ESS provides communication between the Lander (Philae) and the Orbiter.

  • 2004 apparatus NUADU, developed with participation of DSP-IEP-SAS, on board of the satellite Double Star TC-2, where provides imaging of Energetic Neutral Atoms. (Project ESA - China)

  • 2008 apparatus PEEL, developed at DSP-IEP-SAS on Norwegian sounding rocket HotPay-2, where provided registration of electrons precipitated from magnetosphere at high latitudes

  • 2011 apparatus MEP-2, developed at DSP-IEP-SAS on board of Russian space observatory SPECTRUM-RADIOASTRON where provides registration of ions and electrons
